Budapest is the capitol of Hungary. There
are 2 million people who reside in the city
divided in two by the Danube. On the one
side of the river is Pest, where you find
the congested business districts. On the
other side of the Danube is Buda - with gently
sloping hills, plenty of opportunities for
outdoor activities - hiking and even skiing.
District II/A is located in the most attractive
section of Buda - surrounded by a nature
preserve, forests and hills ranging between
300-500 meters in height. As it can clearly
be seen on the map, the district is well
separated from Budapest's more densely populated
areas. Prior to WWII it was a separate township
by the name of Pesthidegkut, but after the
war it was attached to Budapest and became
part of District II. It is merely 7 km from
city center and may be reached by public
transportation or private automobile.
The area is guarded on the north by the Pilis
mountain chain, on the east by Harmashatar
hill, from the south Hars and Janos hills.
The forests provide fresh, clean air. It
is no wonder that the area had long been
one of the favorite hiking places for the
residents of Budapest.
One can reach city center by car or bus and/or
tram numbers 56. The tram is the favorite
of the residents as it runs frequently and
on a strict schedule. Since it runs on its
own tracks, even in peak traffic it arrives
at Moszkva ter in 17 minutes and from there
passengers may continue their journey by
metro.
Over the years District II/A transformed
completely. Once considered part of the country,
the small community became one of Budapest'
fastest growing sections, becoming a favorite
with those wishing to live in single family
neighborhoods that boast modern, quality
structures.
Schools and nursery schools are sprouting
up continuously as do a number of restaurants
and shopping opportunities for local residents.
The French school opened its doors in 2002
in Buda-Liget. The building also houses a
nursery school, grade and high schools. In
Nagykovacsi, 3 kilometers away, the American
school was founded, also in 2002.
The Stop-Shop is the area's largest shopping
center, containing a Kaiser supermarket,
bank, book-, drug-, small appliance-, pet-,
shoe- and furniture stores. Services offered
on the premises are a hairdresser, travel
agency, bowling alley, restaurant, coffee
shop and dry cleaners, ready to serve customers
seven days a week.
There are no industrial activities of any
kind in District II/A, therefore there is
no source of noise or air pollution. Residents
who decide to settle here find ample choices
among properties for sale or lease. Choices
range from simple family homes to the most
exclusive villas
